Artist Statement
My practice is concerned with how art historically has affected and reflected our conceptions of human excellence, and proposes a more inclusive and grounded view of what exceptionality consists of. While traditionally, excellence has been perceived as qualities of refinement and proficiency belonging to a few remarkably gifted or hardworking individuals, my practice is rooted in the belief that the best of us is shared by all of us - that our fallibility and vulnerability as humans, in making us who we are, plays a central role in helping us understand who and what we are at our best.
